Toss the Trash
Sounds pretty simple right? You probably take out the trash regularly. But are you sure that everything that needs to be tossed is actually getting in the trash can? We all have things in our homes that just end up in wallets and bags, in pockets and junk drawers, and they are just waiting to be found and thrown away. When you set a moving date, start going through your stuff and first focus on taking out everything that for sure belongs in the garbage.
Remove Duplicates
While you were going through your things looking for stuff to throw away, did you notice that you have duplicates? Scissors, hair brushes, spatulas, maybe even workout equipment and other bulky items that you just wouldn’t want to pack and move to your new space. Make a pile of your duplicates and separate them into categories – to give to family and friends, to sell, and to donate.
Declutter the Things You Don’t Use
Final round! Go through your things, and we mean through all that you own. Yes, it takes time but it will save you so much money on packing materials and stress from having to unpack it all in your new space to just never use it again. Find clothes you never wear, kitchen items that are just gathering dust, hobby materials that someone else will actually use but you probably never will, etc. These things don’t belong in your home and you should declutter them. Use the categories we mentioned above and start sorting as soon as possible!
